JULIETTE'S CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE!

What's better than a comforting chocolate dessert to get you through winter? Juliette shares her chocolate pound cake recipe, which can be made in just fifteen minutes!

Pound cake, or gâteau quatre-quarts in French, is basically a cake of Breton origin. Why pound cake? Simply because it's made with 1/4 cup of 4 ingredients: flour, eggs, sugar, and butter! A simple cake, but oh so delicious!

Juliette shares her personal take on this classic pastry, which is, of course, rich in chocolate! Follow the steps in this short video and enjoy with your friends and family! Enjoy!

Ingredients :

  • 250 ml (1 cup) flour
  • 190 ml (3/4 cup) cocoa
  • 60 g (2 oz)milk chocolate in pellet form or chopped
  • 85 ml (1/3 cup) milk
  • 250 g (1 cup) salted butter
  • 250 ml (1 cup) sugar
  • 65 ml (1/4 cup) brown sugar
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla
  • 5 eggs

Preparation :

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F, and line a rectangular cake pan (approx. 4 by 8 inches)
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter together in the microwave.
  3. Heat the milk and stir it into the chocolate.
  4. Add the cocoa and mix well. Then, add the two sugars while beating.
  5. Add the eggs one by one, then mix in the flour well.
  6. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake. Bake for about an hour, until the top is slightly cracked and a knife inserted comes out clean.
