Chocolate doughnuts
These easy-to-make donuts are easy to make at home, without frying, and can be enjoyed as a family for a quick and delicious activity, while letting your imagination run wild with the decoration! You'll need a mold, although you could also pipe them directly onto a baking sheet.
Ingredients
2 cups cake flour
½ cup cocoa powder
¾ cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon of salt
1 cup buttermilk
¼ cup milk
1 egg
¼ cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Icing:
⅔ cup dark chocolate
¼ cup cream
2 tablespoons of butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease donut pans.
In a bowl, sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well. Add the sugar and salt and mix again.
In another bowl, crack the egg and add the milk, buttermilk, and vanilla. Mix well with a whisk.
Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and, using a wooden spoon, mix until smooth. Add the melted butter and mix again.
Transfer the batter to a pastry bag fitted with a large nozzle and fill the molds.
Bake for 9-10 minutes, depending on your oven, or until a wooden stick comes out clean. Remove the donuts and let them cool slightly.
In a bowl, combine the chocolate and cream and microwave for 30 seconds at a time, or until the chocolate is glossy. Using a spatula, mix the cream with the chocolate until you get a smooth ganache. Add the room-temperature butter cubes and mix until the ganache is glossy.
Dip the donuts one by one into the hot ganache and finish by decorating them with small sugar hearts (or other decorations depending on the season).
Enjoy while still warm for an ultra-gourmet experience!
